  • Institute's charity work in safe hands

    Simon Gilbert

    26 June 2008

THE Rugby-based Institute of Chemical Engineers (ICE) has teamed up with England goalkeeper David James to tackle poverty in the African country of Malawi.

This David James Foundation was established last year and is designed to support the people of Malawi by creating a working farm, school and sporting academy in Blantyre, in the south of the country.

And the foundation's first official donation was £500 from the ICE, which has launched its own campaign to find examples of chemical engineering innovation supporting people living in poverty.

It is aiming to develop technology that reduces pollution, and supports disposal of waste, produces sustainable food supplies and provides cleaner energy and safe water.
