
THE front man of a Midlands' band who famously rocketed to number one in the UK singles chart with Dizzy is to play at Rugby's West Indian Social Club.
Miles Hunt has been the singer, rhythm guitarist and principle songwriter with The Wonder Stuff since 1986, with his most notable moment coming when the band knocked U2 off the top spot 1992 with their collaboration with comic Vic Reeves.
And he will play a gig at 8.30pm on Friday, April 15 on what is to be the latest Strip Club event held at the St Peter's Road venue. The night is held on the last Friday of each month.
Hunt will be joined by the band's talented violinist Erica Nockalls who joined The Wonder Stuff in 2005.
The group released their first album, The 8 Legged Groove Machine, in 1988 before splitting up six years later. After reforming they released Escape from Rubbish Island in 2004 and in 2006 recorded their highly acclaimed studio album Suspended By Stars.
Hunt has also pursued solo projects since bursting onto the music scene and released his latest album Not an Exit last year which also featured Nockalls and band drummer Andres Karu.
Five piece town band The Mutineers, who have been going for over 20 years, will be supporting.
