DUE to a combination of circumstances beyond the control of Rugby Roots and Uiscedwr this gig has been cancelled.
THE WINNERS of the BBC's young folk award will be making a welcome return to perform at Rugby Roots.
Funky-folk duo Uiscedwr will perform at the popular music evening on Saturday, April 11 at Lawrence Sheriff School, bringing their eclectic blend of jazz, Latin and blues with them.
With their original approach to folk music and their energetic and virtuoso performances, Uiscedwr have become a Rugby Roots' favourite and will be warmly welcomed by the organisers and fans alike.
Promoter Richard Barnes said: "Uiscedwr is quite simply one of our favourite bands.
"We first encountered them at Bridgnorth Festival five or six years ago after which I wrote to a friend saying 'I’ve seen the future and it’s Uiscedwr'. To use a well worn phrase, they totally blew us away."
Fiddlist Anna Esslemont and percussionist Cormac Byrne make up the duo, with guest guitarist James Hickman joining them for the show.
Supporting them will be talented young acoustic singer-songwriter Adriana who boasts performances with the likes of Sheryl Crow and Paolo Nutini and has been writing since her teenage years.
Tickets cost £11 and can be picked up from Sounds on Church Street, by calling 01788 567338 or by logging on to www.rugbyroots.com.
Also booked to the play at Rugby Roots' throughout the year are Little Johnny England (October 3), Cara Dillon (October 17), Kerfuffle (November 17), Oysterband (November 28) and ColvinQuarmby (December 11).
Acclaimed duo Dan Cassidy and James Hickman will play on a date to be confirmed in November.
