Hi: 8° Lo:2° 7 day

PARTS of Rugby were plunged into darkness last night (Wednesday) due to a technical fault knocking out streetlights.
Hundreds of lights went out at around 5pm during the evening rush hour, with Nuneaton and Bedworth also affected. It was several hours before they were all turned back on.
It comes ahead of the county council's scheduled switch-off tomorrow (Friday), with the lights to go off in streets across Rugby in a bid to save £500,000 across the county.
A Warwickshire County Council spokesman said: "We apologise to those customers who experienced problems with street lights in Nuneaton, Bedworth and Rugby last night, this was due to an IT fault which we are working hard to correct. We will give further updates."
