RUGBY Operatic Society celebrate half a century with a staging of Gilbert and Sullivan's The Yeomen of the Guard.

It can be seen at Rugby Theatre from Tuesday (February 19) to Saturday February 23.

And this Saturday (February 16) it will be previewing the show with a free, costumed short performance of songs from the production at Rugby Library at 2pm.

The Yeomen of the Guard is set during the reign of Henry VIII and tells the story of Colonel Fairfax who is held in the Tower of London accused of sorcery by his scheming cousin.

Sentenced to death, a group of lovelorn ladies and his old comrades hatch a plot to save him - but things do not quite go according to plan.

For tickets call Rugby Theatre on 01788 541234.
