THE Wellingborough Multi-Terrain Race second round threw up unique weather conditions for Rugby Triathlon Club members to deal with.
It was mud, mud and more mud on Sunday as seven runners slipped they way around the Irchester Country Park course.
Jane Needham made it two wins in a row by winning the veteran ladies section and other runners improved their times from the last race at the end of January.
Full results: 15km: Jane Needham - 1-06.20 (1st veteran); Anne Portsmouth 1-10.58 (2nd veteran); Garry Haynes 1-11.01 (4th veteran); Sharon McGowan 1-13.11 (3rd veteran); Carl Williams 1-19.34 and Kate Vanloo 1-22.29 (2nd senior veteran). 5km: Staci Courtney Leach 29.35.
The multi-terrain and multi-distance run race (5km, 10km or 15km) is the second in a series of three races to be held in January and February and is used by many to see how well their winter triathlon training programmes are going. Club members will also be competing at the next series race on February 17.
Rugby Triathlon Club currently organises and promotes one triathlon race a year. Taking place in Daventry in September, the race is suitable for novices and experienced competitors alike. More information about the Daventry Triathlon and the club’s adult and junior sections can be found at www.rugbytriathlon.org.uk.
