A FATHER has slammed the 'disgusting' behaviour of a woman who hit his son with her car and drove off without stopping to check on him.

Callum Edwards-Drage was walking along Bilton Lane in Cawston on his way to school on Friday (January 25) at around 8.30am when he was knocked over by the unidentified woman driving a silver Ford Ka.

The ten-year-old Henry Hinde Junior School pupil was crossing the road where it meets Lawford Lane at the time of the accident.

A man in another car who had stopped to let Callum cross the road tried to remonstrate with the woman, at which point she drove off while he was still lying on the ground, according to his father, Adam Drage.

Mr Drage, a bus driver for Stagecoach, said: "He flew in the air and landed on the pavement. I'm told it was a good ten seconds before he got up.

"She just left him there on the floor - for all she knew he could have been seriously injured or dead even. It's disgusting behaviour."

Cawston boy Callum is still going to school despite the accident but has been left shaken by what happened.

Mr Drage said: "He went to hospital and isn't sleeping well. He has a stiff neck and is a bit sore, but mostly he's shook up.

"He has always been good with the roads, he's a switched on boy and we wouldn't let him walk to school on his own if he wasn't, but now he's worried about it."

A Warwickshire Police spokeswoman said it was aware of the incident and was investigating.
