Triathlon
Hero Ross completes charity challenges

By Jamie Arrowsmith Monday 07 January 2013 Updated: 09/01 14:27

RUGBY Triathlon Club's Ross Wearing completed his amazing year of charity endurance challenges for Macmillan Cancer Care with a 31km run around Draycote Water on December 31.

"I really want to sleep for a year now," laughed Ross at the end of a particularly gruelling challenge which has seen him run every day, starting with 1km on December 1 and finishing with 31km on New Year's Eve, roughly totalling over 300-miles for the whole month.

Other tri club members and friends have been encouraging Ross over the year and throughout his 12 extreme challenges.

"It took me just a few minutes to come up with the concept, many more hours to complete each activity and it will take quite a bit of time to recover," said Ross.

"Macmillan Cancer Care is a fantastic charity which I'm very happy to support since they supported my father-in-law. I've raised over £6,800 and would love to make it £7,000. It's easy to donate via my Just Giving page." (www.justgiving.com/ross-wearing).

"2012 has been a great year and the endurance challenges have seen me row a marathon, swim a 15km lake in France, cycle the South Downs Way and complete various on and off-road running/cycling activities. This last challenge '31 Days of Christmas' has been a fabulous way to end the year and I would like to thank all those that have donated their money, time, support and friendship I hope you've had as much fun (and sometimes pain!) as I have."
