TWO thugs who kidnapped a man and forced him to drive around while subjecting him to violence and threats have been jailed.
Terrence Hannifin and Ashley James were jailed for six and a half and six years respectively after appearing at Birmingham Crown Court charged with kidnap, robbery and dangerous driving.
Hannifin, 23, of South Road in Clifton upon Dunsmore, and James, of Skiddaw, Brownsover, forced their victim to drive around Rugby on April 19 this year.
During his ordeal, the victim was subjected to repeated violence and threats and was taken to a cashpoint where his kidnappers forced him to withdraw money for them.
Hannifin and James took it in turns to drive the car, a Ford Fiesta, dangerously before eventually crashing it into a lamp post on Cawston Grange Drive.
The pair ran off across a grassed area towards Cawston, leaving their injured victim in the car at which point he went to a nearby house and raised the alarm.
After an investigation, police arrested Hannifin in April and James in May.
James was also sentenced for another two robberies, the first at Cash4Gold in Railway Terrace on February 15 when the owner was violently assaulted and jewellery was stolen.
The second was in September, in Birmingham, when a woman had a necklace ripped from her neck as she was placing her child into her car.
