FIREFIGHTERS are used to being called to help down a cat up a tree - but less so a man stuck up there trying his own rescue attempt.

Unfortunately for one man in Rugby, he found himself at the centre of just such a rescue yesterday (Wednesday) at around 7pm.

Having climbed a fir tree on Prior Park Road to bring down a cat, he found himself stuck ten metres high and in need of rescuing himself.

Rugby's firefighters were rushed to scene and used a ladder to bring down the marooned man.
