A 24-year-old man has been jailed for five years for his part in an armed robbery at Tarratts Jewellers last month.
Jordan Robert Elis Mitchell, from Mary Street in Bradford, West Yorkshire, had pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced after appearing at Warwick Crown Court yesterday (Wednesday).
Mitchell was arrested after a police car chase from the town centre to Brownsover on Monday September 3.
He was one of three masked men who used a sledgehammer and a pickaxe to smash a window and steal jewellery and watches in broad daylight. Nobody was injured.
The gang then sped off in a BMW which they abandoned before two of them switched to an Audi parked nearby, with the other man escaping either in a different car or on foot.
Police chased the Audi along Leicester Road before it crashed on Hollowell Way in Brownsover, when several men got out and ran.
Mitchell was arrested and charged the next day, but the others escaped and were not caught despite armed officers and the police helicopter combing parts of Brownsover to find them.
DS Neal Candelent of Warwickshire Police said: "Whilst we are pleased with this sentence, our investigation into the robbery is not over and work is still ongoing to identify and arrest the others involved."
