A MAN was robbed of his wallet when he was followed and attacked outside Brandon Stadium.

The 21-year-old was walking home along the A428 Rugby Road at around 1.50am yesterday (Tuesday) when he became aware of a man walking behind him.

When he reached Brandon Stadium, the man caught up with him and asked for a cigarette, but when the victim went to light one he was pushed into a bush and told to hand over his wallet and PIN number.

After giving the man his wallet, the victim was punched in the face and the man made off towards Binley Woods.

The victim was not hurt but was left badly shaken by the attack.

Investigating, Wayne Plester of Warwickshire Police said: "The young man was very frightened during this incident and just handed over his wallet and PIN which is very understandable.

"We would advise anyone faced with this situation though to give a false number if possible and in any case to cancel the card as soon as you can."
