Barby left frustrated by weather

By Jamie Arrowsmith 06/08 Updated: 13/08 14:47

THE WEATHER ruined Barby Cricket Club's weekend programme as matches were washed out after promising starts.

Barby faced Warwick in both first and second team fixtures as the first team travelled to Warwick in Warwickshire League Division One.

The visitors batted first and reached 39-0 off 13 overs before the rain came. Loz Mead was going well on 26 not out.

Although there were some breaks in the weather, the teams never got out again as the square was unable to drain the rain water and the game was therefore abandoned.

The second team fixture saw first in the league take on second, however the weather intervened with Warwick on 44-0 off 15 overs and the match was abandoned.

This result saw Barby remain in second, but other completed results meant their lead over the third placed team was cut.

The Sunday fixture against Heckley was also abandoned.
