POLICE arrested two men after a car chase ended with them smashing through a garden wall and into the front of a house.

The pair in the car, two men aged 18 and 23, were arrested on Friday (August 3) on suspicion of dangerous driving and possession of cannabis.

It came after their Ford Puma failed to stop for police on Clifton Road and sped off, sparking a chase which ended with the car crashing into a house on William Street less than a minute later at around 10.30pm.

Nobody was injured and it is not clear who owns the car, but the house was left damaged with its front garden wall smashed and a window broken.

The police helicopter was mobilised during the chase to look for a third person who made off from the scene and was not found.

Both men have since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
