TEAM Lick Racing duo Dean Nicholls and Ashley Moore enjoyed a fine weekend at Snetterton in the latest round of the BMCRC as they secured four top four finishes.
A rain shower 15 minutes before the start of qualifying made tyre choice essential on Saturday and the Rugby based QEH Systems backed outfit went for intermediates which proved a good choice until a weld on the exhaust cracked after two laps. That signalled the end of qualifying for the team which meant a 15th placed start.
There was still a race against time to complete repairs before the team could make it to the grid for race one but they managed to do so and were rewarded with a third placed finish.
Confidence was high as a result and Nicholls and Moore managed to improve their finishing position to second for race two to complete a fine day’s racing.
Heavy rain greeted the teams on Sunday morning and that led to a tough tyre decision having to be made between wets and intermediates.
Team Lick went for intermediates but after a short warm-up decided wets would be the better choice.
The first race turned out to be quite a lonely affair as rivals were scattered everywhere trying to avoid the spray, Nicholls and Moore eventually claimed another second place finish.
The final race of the weekend was held in dry conditions and Team Lick rounded things off by finishing fourth with a very worn rear tyre causing vibrations.
Attentions now turn to Anglesey on July 28/29 when the ACU/FSRA British Championship season resumes.
