BROUGHTON Astley made it two Leicestershire Senior League Division One victories on the bounce on Saturday with a comfortable 101-run home success against Barrow Town 3rds.
Having been put in, Broughton’s openers Tom Patrick and Corey Murgatroyd (39) put on 68 for the first wicket before Jack Nightingale (1-36) bowled the latter.
Tom Dann (49) came to the middle to join Patrick and the pair put on 127 for the second wicket. Patrick (98) was eventually out just two runs short of his century as Broughton declared on 211-3 after 40 overs.
Early wickets were going to prove key if Broughton were going to force victory and Aaron Dann (4-17) duly obliged as Barrow slipped to 64-5.
Younger brother Alex Dann (3-22) then helped finish things off as Barrow and Burton were skittled for just 110.
Broughton entertain Sharnford on Saturday.
THE 2nds also tasted victory with a seven-wicket success over Barrow and Burton 2nds.
Skipper Steve Eckersley (4-40) helped restrict Barrow to 123ao before Shaun Jones (57no) guided his side home for the loss of three wickets.
