POLICE are investigating an attempt to abduct a child outside a primary school in Dunchurch.

A nine-year-old boy was approached outside Dunchurch Boughton C of E Junior School, on Dew Close, at around 4pm yesterday (Wednesday).

The man told the boy he was there to pick him up from school because the boy's mother had asked him to.

But the boy ran back towards school because he did not know the man and found his mother, at which point the police were alerted.

The school has since warned parents to be on their guard and report anyone seen acting suspiciously.

Police have described the man as black, about 6ft tall, aged between 24 and 30, of medium build and with a round, unshaven face and a ring piercing in his right nostril.

He was wearing a black hooded top with the up up, blue crosshatch jeans and black shoes.

Police officers are visiting the school to talk to children about being aware of strangers.
