RUGBY Swimming Club members returned from the Coventry and Districts Secondaries Gala with 14 medals and an incredible 92 personal bests to their names at the weekend.

The gala provides the chance for experienced and novice swimmers alike to compete in new events and distances that they may not always have the opportunity to.

Winners claiming their Jubilee themed gold medal were Anna Shepherd (girls 13/14yrs 200m breastsroke) - who clocked 2-58.39 to break the magical three minute barrier - Adam Wanless (9yrs 50m butterfly), Alfie O’Sullivan (9yrs 50m breaststroke) and Ellen Armeson (50m backstroke).

Anna backed up her victory by winning silver in the 50m breaststroke, only missing out on victory by 0.01 seconds.

There were also silvers for Matt Laity (13/14yrs 50m freestyle) and Hattie Byrne (13/14yrs 100m backstroke). Bronze medals went to Thomas Parker (13/14yrs breaststroke), Hattie (100m breaststroke), Adam (50m breaststroke), Alfie (100m IM), Megan Williams (11/12yrs 100m butterfly), Matthew Seaton (9yrs 50m freestyle) and William Dunderdale in the 11yrs 50m freestyle.

Many swimmers registered several personal bests in addition to those winning medals, notably Olivia Gyatt, Rhys James, Eve Benson, Ceri and Lucy House and Eve Street.

Rugby SC are always looking to strengthen at all levels of the club, but are particularly on the lookout for seven and eight year olds. For more email rscrugbyswimming@gmail.com.
