TOM Gleghorn hit a superb unbeaten century to help Barby secure a Warwickshire League Division One winning draw at home against Warwick on Saturday.

Gleghorn smashed 115 off 107 balls (nine fours and six sixes) in the rain affected contest before Stev Sipanovic went on to shine with the ball when it was Barby's turn to field, taking 4-12.

Having decided to bat first, Barby made a slow start as they reached 70-2 after 25 overs.

A steady acceleration followed though with Gleghorn leading the way, supported by Rob Field who finished on 36no as Barby made 191-4.

Marc Passey was the pick of the visitors' attack, taking 2-27.

Warwick never really threatened Barby's total as wickets fell at regular intervals, but not regularly enough for the home side to force victory.

Warwick finished on 95-7 from their 50 overs with Will Sinclair (2-21) and David Watson (1-27) also striking.

THERE was more success on Sunday as Barby won by 49-runs at Isham in the second round of the National Village Cup.

The afternoon did not get off to the best of the starts for Barby as they fell to 14-4 having chosen to bat first.

Dan Dury (63no) and Field (63no) helped recover the situation though and put on over 100 together to push the final total to 205-8 from 40 overs.

Isham lost regular wickets in reply with Bikram Singh (3-21), Watson (2-29), Stipanovic (1-39), Rory Long (1-27) and Adam Shay (1-30) all striking to bowl them out for 156.

BARBY were also in friendly action on Sunday at Offchurch.

The home side made 217-2 with Jennings, Mander and Anderson all reaching 50. The only wicket taker was Phil Beagley, with the other wicket being a run out by Matt Beagley.

Barby never looked like reaching the stiff target and finished on 96 all out, Phil Beagley was the main contributor with 50, Charlie Norton made 13.
