ROGUE traders posing as workmen talked their way into a 93-year-old woman's home before stealing £1,000 from her.
The conmen targeted the elderly lady's house on Rugby Road, Binley Woods, near to the Cocked Hat pub, and asked for £200 payment to clear her gutters, claiming they had previously been asked to do the work.
She let them in, and when the women went into her bedroom to get money to pay them, one of the men followed her and snatched her purse - taking around £1,000 from it.
The gang then drove off in a white van seen parked on Rugby Road at around 4.30pm on Saturday (March 31).
Police have warned other homeowners to be on their guard against strangers calling at the door and pretending to be workmen.
People are advised to keep their front and back doors locked at all times, fit a security chain and ask any callers for photographic identification to prove they are genuine.
