AFTER nearly five years of mischief, bad behaviour and political incorrectness, Avenue Q, can be seen at Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre from May 28 to June 2.
The Tony Award-winning comedy Avenue Q has enjoyed enormous success, both on Broadway and in the West End.
It combines a cast of humans and puppets who tackle subjects such as dating, racism, being gay and finding a purpose in life.
Created by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, the musical follows the fortunes of lively and off-the-wall characters on a downtown New York street trying to make sense of life’s burning issues - love, work, relationships, and, above all, just how are you supposed to pay the bills with a B.A in English?
The story follows Princeton, a bright-eyed college graduate new to the area, as he desperately tries to follow his dreams and discover his ever-elusive purpose in life. A limited bank balance, the distraction of a busty blonde, and a variety of weird and wonderful friends and neighbours lead Princeton on a story of self-discovery.
The show features an award-winning score including a series of risqué songs such as What Do You Do with a B.A in English?, If You Were Gay, I'm Not Wearing Underwear Today and It Sucks to Be Me.
Due to the nature of the play Avenue Q is not suitable for those aged under 12.
Tickets, priced £20.50 to £30.25, are available by visiting www.belgrade.co.uk or calling the box office on 024 7655 3055.
