Cycling
Hastie shines in difficult conditions

By Jamie Arrowsmith 01/05 Updated: 01/05 11:03

THERE is no stopping Tim Hastie at the top of the timesheets as he made it four wins in a row when Rugby RCC held their latest time-trial, a ten-mile event on the K11/10 Lawford course.

A huge rain shower 45 minutes before the start of the event made it seem that motorboats would have been more appropriate than bikes as there was so much water on the road but the sun arrived just in time as 26 competitors prepared for action.

Hastie won in 23-32, finishing ahead of Richard Bray 24-16 and Matt Jones 24-27.

The weather turned extremely wet again by 7.30pm, meaning everybody got soaked and a number of entrants struggled on what is the slowest course used by the club.

Full results: Tim Hastie 23-32, Richard Bray 24-16, Matt Jones 24-27, Peter Wright 24-29, Stuart Hopkins 25-10, David Gillett 25-12, Simon Mitchell 25-22, Eliot Blundell 25-32, David Kimberley 26-08, Marina Bloom 27-16, David Tyler 27-18, Martin Orrill 27-19, Ryan Kenworthy 27-23, Lewis Jones 27-44, Phil Byrne 28-02, Mike Smallwood 28-23, Simon Bayliss 28-39, Rob Tyler 28-43, Gary Howes 28-51, Richard Boyd 29-54, Dave Pettifor 30-10, Stuart Sykes 31-01, Chris Lodge 31-48, Sian Rainsley 33-32, Kirstie Nichols 34-23, John Brothers 36-31.
