A VIOLINIST who can 'spin the world on his bow' according to renowned author Terry Pratchett plays Rugby Roots.
Virtuoso fiddler Peter Knight will be performing his emotional and varied repertoire at Lawrence Sheriff School on Saturday (April 21) at the Rugby folk music night.
Joined by guitarist Roger Flack and percussionist Vincent Salzfaas, British folk music veteran Peter will perform as part of his group Gigspanner.
The trio's eclectic set includes classical, baroque and jazz styles, some taken from their successful debut album Lipreading the Poet.
Rugby Roots organiser Richard Barnes said: "Peter is in possession of a musical flexibility and deeply emotional playing style that is truly unique.
"It is within the context of Gigspanner that concert goers experience the full range of Peter's musicality, with performances that are rapidly forging a reputation for leaving audiences spellbound.
"The trio’s first album, Lipreading the Poet, was named as one of the best 15 global CDs of 2009 by The Wire magazine, a distinction indicative of the outstanding musicianship and commitment to originality that is the hallmark of their performances."
The show starts at 8pm. Tickets cost £12 and are available from music store Sounds, in Church Street, or direct from Rugby Roots by visiting www.rugbyroots.com or calling 01788 567338.
