PEOPLE can get hooked on fishing again now the sport has returned to Draycote Water.

After an absence of over a year, anglers can once again fish at the Rugby reservoir following £800,000 of improvements at the beauty spot by Severn Trent.

The new improved fishery reopened earlier this month in time for the start of this year's fishing season.

In 2009 Severn Trent controversially announced it was closing the fishery temporarily to allow for big money improvements to the visitor centre, cafe, toilets and car park at Draycote.

Draycote fishery manager Ifor Jones said: "The facilities are now excellent and I’m looking forward to the new fishing season and catching some trout."

Site manager for Severn Trent, Richard Clough, said: "We are really excited about the new season at the fishery.

We are sure the newly refurbished visitor centre will give anglers the space they need."

The fishery opens at 7.30am and boats are available from 8.30am. Anglers are advised to book in advance for bank and boat fishing.

For more information contact Draycote visitor centre on 01788 812018.
