POLICE are trying to trace two men seen talking to a pensioner on the day he disappeared last week.
Wolston pensioner George Summerfield, of Meadow Road, was last seen in the village on Thursday (March 28) shortly after lunchtime, and police are now trying to establish where he went afterwards.
Officers have visited houses and establishments 77-year-old Mr Summerfield is known to frequent and have searched for him with dogs and off-road bikes since he went missing.
They have searched woodland and open areas around Wolston but have yet to find anything.
One of the last reported sightings of Mr Summerfield was in the car park of the Rose and Crown pub in Wolston. He was seen talking to someone between 2pm and 3pm.
Earlier he was seen on Brandon bridge at around 11.30am talking to two men.
Police are keen to speak to these people and said they may be able to give some indication about Mr Summerfield's state of mind or his intentions.
Det Insp Neal Candelent of Warwickshire Police said: "We are still very concerned for George's welfare and are doing all we can to locate him.
"It is very out of character for him to wander away like this and we are worried he may have taken ill somewhere.
"I am very grateful to everyone in Wolston for the help and support they have given us in our search for George. He is clearly a much loved member of the community."
A group has been set up on social networking site Facebook by villagers working to try and find out where Mr Summerfield might have gone.
Mr Summerfield is white, 5ft 10in tall and of medium build. He has a bald head apart from long, lank greying hair down the sides.
He is thought to have been wearing a dark anorak type jacket and usually wears a green checked flat cap.
Warwickshire Police has asked anyone who sees Mr Summerfield to call 999 immediately.
