LUTTERWORTH Athletic’s Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division promotion hopes were dented on Saturday when beaten 2-0 at Stapenhill.
In what was their first game for three weeks, Athletic found things challenging on a difficult surface and never really got going.
Despite having a lot of possession and a few good chances, it was Stapenhill who sealed victory with two clinical finishes late on.
Athletic entertain Sileby Town at Hall Park on Saturday in what is now a vital game if they are to have any chance of competing for the title. Athletic sit second in the table, three points behind leaders Rothley Imperial but there are a number of sides in the chasing pack who have games in hand and could yet have a say in the destination of the trophy at the end of the season.
The Reserves maintained their position at the top of the table thanks to a 1-0 success against Desford.
Victory over Allexton New Parks sent the youth team into the final of the County Cup where they will face either Barrow or Loughborough on March 7.
CARLY Pegg scored four times as the Ladies continued their unbeaten run with an 11-0 success against Castle Donington.
It took 20 minutes for the goalscoring to begin but once it did they came thick and fast.
Helen Bugsy (3), Jazz Connerly 2, Kayleigh Ball and Nicki Livgett scored the other goals whilst Esha Ramesh was named man of the match.
