THREE men were charged with burglary in as many days by police in Rugby last week.

Mark Wootton of Merthyr Road, Northampton, was the latest to be charged by police after a burglary last Thursday (February 16) at a home in Bretford at around 11am.

It came after police were alerted to a burglary in progress by a member of the public who reported suspicious activity at a house in the village.

Officers arrived to find the burglars had fled but later that day arrested Wootton from a house in Rugby.

The next day (February 17) he was charged with burglary.

Det Ch Insp Alex Franklin-Smith said: "This is the third arrest for burglary in as many days by officers in Rugby and reflects their dedication to disrupting anyone suspected of committing crime.

"Warwickshire Police take offences of burglary extremely seriously and understand the harm it causes to its victims and communities.

"The public are vital and we are always very grateful for any information they provide that can help us progress our enquiries."

The day before Wootton was charged, 21-year-old Daniel James Cameron of Brockhurst Way in Thrybergh, Rotherham, was charged with a car burglary in Stanley Road on October 22 last year.

And on Wednesday February 15, Terrence Hannifin of Copeland, Brownsover, was recently charged with a burglary in Skiddaw, Brownsover, on January 26.
