SATURDAY’S big derby between Old Lauerntians and Newbold was one of many sporting fixtures to be beaten by the winter weather on Saturday.
The entire Midlands Two West (South) programme has been rearranged for this Saturday but the derby date will have wait until February 25 due to OLs’ involvement in the RFU Intermediate Cup.
Weather permitting, they travel to Stoke in the Midlands semi-final on Saturday for what is expected to be a tough encounter for the Fenley Field side.
Stoke boast a 100 per cent record in Midlands Two West (North) and sit well clear at the top of the table with a 15 point margin over the second placed club.
OLs have already beaten some fancied sides in this competition though and will travel with confidence high.
The perfect draw for OLs at this stage of the competition would have been against local rivals Lutterworth, who contest the other semi-final with Stafford on Saturday and are fancied to progress.
If the current cold snap relents and Saturday’s game is on, OLs will be running a coach to Stoke but supporters are advised to check the club’s website for updates.
