Cricket
New players welcome at Willoughby CC

By Jamie Arrowsmith 23/01 Updated: 25/01 12:29

WILLOUGHBY Cricket Club's preparations for the new season are beginning to get underway with an invitation for new and current players to get involved.

The club will be holding pre-season nets and training during the next couple of months at the Rugby campus of Warwickshire College, starting on February 12.

Indoor sessions will be held at Technology Drive, Rugby, from 12.15pm to 1.30pm at a cost of £2 per person. The first session will be for senior and u15 players only.

It promises to be a busy summer for Willoughby both on and off the pitch and the club invites any cricketers of all ages and standards that may be interested in playing and getting involved to get in touch or simply turn up for pre-season training.

The seniors will again have a variety of competitive league cricket; on a Saturday afternoon with two teams in the South Northants League, on a Wednesday in the Rugby and District Cricket league (RDCL), as well as offering social cricket with traditional village and club friendlies on a Sunday afternoon.

Junior cricket at the club continues to go from strength to strength with Willoughby again planning to have league teams at u13 and u15 levels in the RDCL, as well as a new u11 team.

In addition, Willoughby will again have their weekly coaching sessions, plus more of the highly popular Kwik Cricket sessions for all youngsters, essentially cricket for all boys and girls aged seven and above.

For further details on joining the club contact Karl Quinney on 01788 542441, 07775 883102 or karlq@gcleisure.co.uk. Alternatively contact Martin Nichols on 01788 334850.
