JUNIOR members of Rugby Triathlon Club jumped at the chance to celebrate their 2011 achievements with a fantastic awards night on Saturday.
A big honour for the club was to have Hywel Davies on hand to present the trophies.
During his career Davies has represented Great Britain in four different sports and this year, whilst on national duty, became the current European Long Distance Triathlon Champion.
Junior Club chairman John Austin said: "It was an honour to have such an athlete of Hywel's calibre present at our awards. He offers inspiration to our young members in the way that he has competed at the very highest level in British, European and World Triathlon events while maintaining a very busy work and home life."
Alex Considine and Anja Wyatt won the Champions Award with Considine also picking up the Graham Emery Award.
The Graham Emery Award is new for 2012 and is awarded for outstanding contribution to Triathlon. It is a perpetual trophy to honour the memory of Junior Section Committee Member and Club Coach Graham Emery who sadly passed away in 2011 and which embodies the attitude and sense of enjoyment and fun he brought to the junior club.
The Coach and Committee award went to Katie Clements whilst Helen Childs picked up the Coach of the Year award.
Jessica Butterworth and Reece Oldham shared the Best Attendance Award.
James Austin and Anja Wyatt came out on top in the Tri Star category whilst in the Tri Star One category Skip Snelson and Holly Glover led the way, Aidan Tombs and Cameron Fletcher completed the boys top three.
Aidan McGuirk, Joseph Childs and Thomas Hardman filled the top three spaces in the boys Tri Star Two category with Francesca Austin, Chandra Singh and Danielle Whitington doing so for the girls.
The top three boys in the Tri Star Three category were Chris Rouse, Surajan Singh and Reece Oldham with Niamh Emery, Megan Jennings and Katie Clements filling the girls places.
In the Tri Youth category, Alex Considine, Seb Considine and Ben Emery took the top three places.
Lastly, immediate past Chairman Ian Payne received a commemorative glass plaque and engraved pen in recognition of his outstanding dedication to making Rugby Triathlon Juniors the success they are today.
He has been instrumental, in the last five years, in getting the club off the ground, ensuring it is run professionally for the benefit of the whole community and its many young participants.
