TWO excellent strikes from Tyrone Fagan helped Rugby earn a point on Monday in a game they will have been disappointed not to have taken three from.

Boss Dave Stringer had to do without injured full back Craig Reid whilst a hamstring strain ruled Seb Lake-Gaskin out. Andy Gundelach and Luke Keen were drafted in as replacements.

Seb Hamilton was off target with an early chance as Rugby started well but the home supporters were soon celebrating when Keen threaded Fagan through in the 15th minute and he finished clinically past Matt Finlay.

It was 2-0 ten minutes later when Keen robbed former Rugby man Ben Milner before lofting an early strike into the roof of the net from 20-yards.

Fagan and Hamilton went close to extending the lead before Glen Hawkins had a chance for Woodford at the other end but his volley drifted just wide.

Woodford pushed hard from the restart with Nathaniel Liburd and Jamie Wright going close before they pulled one back when Hawkins was on hand to score from close range after Lewis Travers sent a cross over.

Town responded well to conceding and restored their two-goal advantage within a minute when Fagan turned home another cross from Keen.

Again Hamilton and Fagan had chances to put the match out of the opposition’s reach but Travers made it 3-2 with another close range finish after good work on the right by Wright.

Ed Booth saw a shot blocked by Ross Harris as Town tried to put the game to bed but Woodford were presented with the chance to level when Luke Leahy was adjudged to have fouled Ross Oulton in the box and Chris Jackson fired home from the spot.
