A LUTTERWORTH takeaway shop owner found murdered in a flat above another business he ran in Leicester had been tied up, detectives have revealed.

The body of 50-year-old Dogan Dogan, a Kurdish Turk who has owned the Pizzaman takeaway for the last ten years, was found in the flat above another shop he ran, Aladdin Pizza in Evington, Leicester, on Sunday January 8.

He had been tied up, but no cause of death has been determined and police say there was no evidence he had been stabbed.

It is believed married father Mr Dogan had spent some of Saturday evening at Pizzaman, on Church Street.

Less than a day later, his body was discovered on Sunday January 8 shortly after 2.15pm in the Evington flat he owned above his takeaway shop there.

Mr Dogan's family have paid tribute to him. In a statement, they said: “Our husband and father was a well respected family man whose only goal in life was to secure the future of his family.

"He was very well liked and trusted within the community. Whoever is responsible for this has done it to an innocent man.

"We are anxious that anybody that can help come forward with whatever information they have.”

Leading the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Tom Davies of Leicestershire Police said they were considering a number of possible motives for the murder.

He added: "We would like to speak to anyone who saw Mr Dogan between lunchtime on Saturday and the discovery of his body at about 2.20pm on Sunday.

"Equally, I would like to speak to anyone who knew Mr Dogan, or has any information which may assist us about why this crime has been committed, or who may be responsible."

Flowers and tributes have been left to Mr Dogan outside the Pizzman takeaway.

One, signed Johnny, Julie and family, read: "RIP to the most amazing person, boss but most of all friend anyone could ask for. You will never be forgotten Dogan."

Flowers and tributes to murder victim Dogan Dogan have been left outside the Pizzaman takeaway on Church Street. 03.012.005.lutt.jg10
